Teachers As Designers
One as-yet-unresearched claim made in DITC and by others
is whether teachers can benefit from seeing themselves
as designers. More and more, among educators who make
a living around assessment, program or curriculum development,
or doing research, the language of design is starting
to permeate their vocabulary, and figure in the models
they use and metaphors they come up with to think about
their work.
In MOVIE 1, you can listen to educators from describe
how they do their work as teachers using a design process.
Some strategies you will hear mentioned include: being
self-reflective about the work, reasons about tradeoffs,
thinking about goals and criteria with limited resources,
and doing iterative improvements.
